2You will access MLA Bibliography and MLA
Directory of Periodicals using the Librarys
Home Page (http//library.geneseo.edu/) and
clicking on the Find Articles/by subject link.
3You will then click on the link for the English
databases.
4You will then need to click on the link for MLA
Bibliography and MLA Directory of Periodicals.
5I change my search to the advanced screen as the
basic search is the default screen
6I will now enter my search terms and place any
limits on my search.
7I have done a search for feminism (as a subject),
eng literature and renaissance (as keywords). I
have also limited my search to journal
articles, English and peer reviewed.
8I have 6 results. I will click on the first
result to find more information about the
article.
9Full-text is not available through this database
so click on the Get Text button.
10The item was not available in any of the
databases so we will look for it in print.
11This screen gives title information and whether
or not the item is available. I will click on the
link for more information.
12This screen gives information such as the journal
name, call number and subject terms.
13This screen gives the dates and locations of the
journals.
14I am going to try one more search, this time for
the nineteenth century.
15There are 6 results, I will look at the first
title.
16Full-text is not available through this database
so click on the Get Text button.
17You are able to see an abstract of the article as
well as information such as author, title and
subject terms. Also note the link to a pdf of the
article (to print it out) or a link to email this
article to someone.
18You can either print the article or email it to
yourself.
19You are now ready to try a search on your own.
