  • XBT and MET observations are received in the SEAS
server. These data are decoded and stored in a
database. They are also submitted to the GTS in
    real-time
  • XBT data is submitted to the GTS in ASCII (JJVV)
    and BUFR
  • MET data is submitted to the GTS in ASCII (BBXX)
  • AMVER reports are created and submitted to the US
    Coast Guard

SEAS Server for MET Data Distribution
  • Work is underway to receive and process and
    distribute MET observations AMVERSEAS and
    TurboWin
  • Data transmitted from ships will be decoded and
submitted to the GTS in real-time in ASCII (BBXX)
    and BUFR
  • In order to accomplish this several tasks must be
    completed first
  • Software to decode TurboWin data files
  • Work with current BUFR template for MET
    observations (currently not operational)
  • BUFR bulletins will only contain as many metadata
    as we receive
