Introduction
  • A number of CFD studies have been recently
reported on (2D/3D) bubble column flows
  • Two different approaches are commonly used
  • Euler-Lagrange
  • Euler-Euler
  • Euler-Euler approach?low computational cost
    ?widely used
  • Euler-Euler simulations of bubble column flow
have shown promise for capturing the reactor
    scale flow pattern and mixing
  • Euler-Euler approach needs extra-considerations
of the closures of interface momentum exchange.

Overall Objectives
  • Evaluate systematically the effect of available
closures for interfacial exchange phenomena in
bubble column flows modeled by the Euler-Euler
approach by comparing the results with published
    experimental data and numerical investigations.
  • Provide users with guidance as to what closures
    to use.
