Three Kinds of Apostlesby Greg Robertson, M.A.,
M.Div. (promo777_at_yahoo.com)
Type One
Type Two
Type Three
  • 1) Those chosen and sent personally by the Lord
    Jesus Christ. Includes only twelve.
  • 2) Those sent by other Christians for a special
cause. Includes the use of the word apostle in
    a more broad sense.

3) False Apostles who claim to have the same
function and authority as the twelve.

1. The Twelve
Those personally chosen and sent by the Lord
Jesus Christ. Includes only the twelve.
  • When morning came, he called his disciples to
him and chose twelve of them, whom he also
    designated apostles. Luke 613
  • In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all
that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day
he was taken up to heaven, after giving
instructions through the Holy Spirit to the
apostles he had chosen. After his suffering, he
showed himself to these men and gave many
convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared
to them over a period of forty days and spoke
about the kingdom of God. Acts 11-3

The Twelve (2)
Those personally chosen and sent by the Lord
Jesus Christ. Includes only the twelve.
  • Those who accepted his message were baptized,
and about three thousand were added to their
number that day. They devoted themselves to the
apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the
breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was
filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous
signs were done by the apostles. Acts 241-43
  • For it seems to me that God has put us apostles
on display at the end of the procession, like men
condemned to die in the arena. We have been made
a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as
well as to men. 1 Corinthians 49

4
The Twelve (3)
Those personally chosen and sent by the Lord
Jesus Christ. Includes only the twelve.
  • And in the church God has appointed first of all
apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then
workers of miracles, also those having gifts of
healing, those able to help others, those with
gifts of administration, and those speaking in
different kinds of tongues. 1 Corinthians 1228
  • Then he appeared to James, then to all the
apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also,
as to one abnormally born. For I am the least of
the apostles and do not even deserve to be called
an apostle, because I persecuted the church of
    God. 1 Corinthians 157-9

The Twelve (4)
Those personally chosen and sent by the Lord
Jesus Christ. Includes only the twelve.
  • Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and
aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and
members of God's household, built on the
foundation of the apostles and prophets, with
Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.
    Ephesians 219-20
  • In reading this, then, you will be able to
understand my insight into the mystery of Christ,
which was not made known to men in other
generations as it has now been revealed by the
Spirit to God's holy apostles and prophets. This
mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles
are heirs together with Israel, members together
of one body, and sharers together in the promise
    in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 34-6

6
The Twelve (5)
Those personally chosen and sent by the Lord
Jesus Christ. Includes only the twelve.
  • It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to
be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to
be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people
for works of service, so that the body of Christ
may be built up until we all reach unity in the
faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and
become mature, attaining to the whole measure of
the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be
infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and
blown here and there by every wind of teaching
and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their
deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth
in love, we will in all things grow up into him
who is the Head, that is, Christ. Ephesians
    411-15

7
The Twelve (6)
Those personally chosen and sent by the Lord
Jesus Christ. Includes only the twelve.
  • The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and
on them were the names of the twelve apostles of
    the Lamb. Revelation 2114

8
Matthias or Paul?
There can only be twelve!
  • For, said Peter, it is written in the book of
Psalms, May his place be deserted let there be
no one to dwell in it, and, May another take
his place of leadership. Therefore it is
necessary to choose one of the men who have been
with us the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and
out among us, beginning from John's baptism to
the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one
of these must become a witness with us of his
resurrection. So they proposed two men Joseph
called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and
Matthias. Then they prayed, Lord, you know
everyone's heart. Show us which of these two you
have chosen to take over this apostolic ministry,
which Judas left to go where he belongs. Then
they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias so
he was added to the eleven apostles. Acts
    120-26
  • It seems apparent from the results of this
choice, that the eleven actually created only a
Type Two apostle. Matthias is never mentioned
after he was chosen by them. Later, it was made
obvious that Gods choice was to replace Judas
with Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles. Reverend
    Greg Robertson, Jakarta

9
Type 2Other Apostles
Those sent by other Christians for a special
cause. Includes the use of the word apostle in
a more broad sense.
  • Then the apostles and elders, with the whole
church, decided to choose some of their own men
and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas.
They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas,
two men who were leaders among the brothers. With
them they sent the following letter The apostles
and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile
believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia
Greetings. We have heard that some went out from
us without our authorization and disturbed you,
troubling your minds by what they said. Acts
    1522-24
  • Greet Andronicus and Junias, my relatives who
have been in prison with me. They are outstanding
among the apostles, and they were in Christ
    before I was. Romans 167

10
Type 3 -- False Apostles
False Apostles who claim to have the same
function and authority as the twelve.
  • For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus
other than the Jesus we preached, or if you
receive a different spirit from the one you
received, or a different gospel from the one you
accepted, you put up with it easily enough. But I
do not think I am in the least inferior to those
"super-apostles." I may not be a trained speaker,
but I do have knowledge. We have made this
perfectly clear to you in every way. Was it a sin
for me to lower myself in order to elevate you by
preaching the gospel of God to you free of
    charge? 2 Corinthians 114-7

11
False Apostles (2)
False Apostles who claim to have the same
function and authority as the twelve.
  • And I will keep on doing what I am doing in
order to cut the ground from under those who want
an opportunity to be considered equal with us in
the things they boast about. For such men are
    false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading
as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan
himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is
not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade
as servants of righteousness. Their end will be
what their actions deserve. 2 Corinthians
    1112-15
  • I know your deeds, your hard work and your
perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate
wicked men, that you have tested those who claim
to be apostles but are not, and have found them
    false. Revelation 22

12
A Last Days Warning!
  • At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here
is the Christ !' The Christ means The
Anointed One or, 'Look, there he is!' do not
believe it. For false Christs and false prophets
will appear and perform signs and miracles to
deceive the elect -- if that were possible. So be
on your guard I have told you everything ahead
    of time. Mark 1321-23

  • This is one of the problems I've found when I
first began associating with prophets and
apostles. I began to understand they're the ones
making up the new wineskin for the body of
Christ, which I call the New Apostolic
Reformation. Yet I was very surprised to find
that many prophets don't even trust or like
apostles around and vice versa, many apostles
don't trust or like prophets around.
  • The Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders is a
peer-level group of prophets, now under my
apostolic leadership. This to me is an example of
how prophets relate to apostles on the broader
    scale.
  • Why has God accelerated the process? There are
several reasons. We know much more about
strategic prophetic intercession than we did
before. We have fought and won numerous battles
in the invisible world. Methods of spiritual
warfare are no longer mysteries. And perhaps most
important of all, the government of the church,
headed by apostles and prophets, is now in
    place. C. Peter Wagner http//www.globalharvestmi

Bill Hamon http//imagint.com/bereans/prophesies/
cinc-1999.htm
  • We Hamon and Cindy Jacobs feel like the seven
years of plenty will be condensed into 1999 and
then the year 2000 will be like the seven years
of famine. We sense that as far as Y2K is
concerned, there will be some blackouts/brownouts
in some areas. There will be shakeups in some
areas, especially big cities. But we believe that
God is going to show the prophets where, how, and
    what is going to happen.
  • But the Holy Spirit prophetically stated that
this apostolic anointing was being granted for
two reasons. The first reason was that I had been
faithful in multiplying the prophet anointing
that had been given, so now that anointing was
being doubled by the addition of the apostolic
anointing (Mt. 2528, 29) The second reason was
that the apostolic anointing had been given for
the purpose of pioneering, establishing and
taking a fatherhood responsibility for the
restoration and propagation of the office of the
prophet. Prophets and the Prophetic Movement
Gods Prophetic Move Today by Bill Hamon, Destiny
    Image, 1990, p. 172.

Cindy Jacobs
  • Y2K is a man-made problem which will cause a
disruption of communication like the Tower of
Babel, and for a season, communication will be
shut off. Y2K itself will not be the major
shaking, but the shakings will come with the
    domino effect.

  • God is about to build a new church -- a
"street"church, built on the foundation of the
new apostles and prophets that He is about to
raise up, just like the early church. (For this
is the way GOD builds His true church -- He
starts with His new apostles, and builds the
whole thing on them). The true church is an
"organism" -- not an organization. It is built
out of PEOPLE -- it is nothing to do with
buildings. And it is built on the foundation of
His true apostles and prophets. This is what we
are about to see again in our day. Glory to God!
A glorious church, a spotless Bride truly
befitting the King of Kings and the Lord of
Lords. We live in the most momentous (and
dangerous) of times. THE BRIDE WILL LEAVE
    CHRISTENDOM by Andrew Strom

  • "I also understand how the nature of some of
    these revelations would cause theological
problems for some. One of these would certainly
be the way that I met and talked with many Old
and New Testament characters. As well as
prominent people in church history who are now
    dead. " page 20
  • Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his
son or daughter in the fire, who practices
divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages
in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a
medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.
Anyone who does these things is detestable to the
LORD, and because of these detestable practices
the LORD your God will drive out those nations
    before you. Deut. 1810-12
