OBJECTIVES

• Recognize the value of treated wastewater as a
  stable and sustainable new source of water.
• Discuss the environmental, socio-cultural,
  political, conceptual and other aspects of
  wastewater reuse, facing knowledge gaps and
  conservative attitudes.
• Identify the best practice economic and
  governmental means that are required to
  accelerate expansion of wastewater management and
  reuse with a focus on tailoring to local
  requirements and conditions.
• Indicate training needs and international
  support that could help to increase sustainable
  reuse of treated wastewater both locally and
  worldwide.

Wastewater Management in Israel

• More than 93 of the wastewater are treated to
  secondary and tertiary quality.
• Currently 36 are tertiary while the target is
  90 in 2016.
• About 80 of the treated wastewater are reused
  for agriculture. The target is 90 in less than
  5 years

tailoring to local requirements and conditions.
