Decline of Puritans

• Large numbers of the population will leave
  Puritan controlled areas
• This decline coincided with the Great Awakening,
  a religious movement that emphasized
  individuality rather than orders from a formal
  church
• Also provided opportunities for people to gather
  and discuss politics.
