Important Times
  • School begins 800 a.m.
  • Homeroom until 815 a.m.
  • Lunch 1145-1227 p.m.
  • Dismissal 234 p.m.

  • Monday- Spanish Library
  • Tuesday Gym
  • Wednesday Gym Spanish
  • Thursday - Music
  • Friday- Art
  • Students must wear sneakers on gym days.
  • Books may be returned early.

Homework
  • Homework will be given regularly in reading,
    math, and word study. Writing, science, and
    social studies homework will be assignment less
    frequently.
  • Homework is posted every afternoon. Students are
    responsible for copying assignments into their
    planners.
  • Assignments and notices are put into the student
    mailboxes. Students are instructed to make sure
    they have everything before they leave.
  • Please see my webpage for updated homework
    assignments, projects, and test dates.
  • Check the Travel Folder daily for study guides,
    notices, etc..

Homework Policy
  • Please ensure that your child completes the
    homework!
  • Each student starts every marking period with 100
    points per subject.
  • For each missed assignment, the student will lose
    five points in that subject.
  • The total missed points are subtracted from 100
    and then used as a grade for each subject.
  • As a reward, each student has the opportunity to
    earn computer time. Each student must get ten
    punches on their superhero punch card in order to
    earn ten minutes of computer time. One night of
    complete homework equals one card punch.

  • Language Arts Literacy
  • We follow the workshop model for reading and
    writing. This includes
  • Read- aloud
  • Mini-lesson
  • Independent work
  • Conferencing
  • Sharing
  • Word Study is done in lieu of spelling. There
    are three different word study lists based on the
    inventory test given in September.

  • Math Go Math! Curriculum and memorizing the
    multiplication facts

  • Science textbook, labs, projects
  • Social Studies Time for Kids, geography,
    projects
  • Technology is integrated in all subject areas.
    They students will type, create projects, and
    perform research using the computer.

Assessments
  • The students will be assessed in all subjects.
  • Math Tests will be given every 2-3 weeks. A
    review sheet will be assigned as homework the
    night before the test.
  • Multiplication Facts Study the facts
  • Word Study bi-weekly on Fridays
  • Reading and Writing Their notebooks and
    assignments will be graded using a rubric.
    Students will also be assessed on skills, but do
    not need to study for this. The test is based on
    their application of the skills covered.

Assessment-continued
  • Science and Social Studies The students will be
    tested on each unit. Usually, each unit takes 4-5
    weeks. Students will also be assessed on
    projects. Rubrics will be used to grade those
    assignments.
  • Assessments Folders These folders will be sent
    home every 2-3 weeks. Please sign the sheet and
    make comments if necessary. Please keep all tests
    in the folder until the conclusion of the marking
    period.

  • O 90 -100
  • VG 86-89
  • G 80-85
  • S 70-79
  • N 60-69
  • U59 or below
  • Progress reports will be given out quarterly if
    needed.

Class Guests
  • Please come and visit our
    class!
  • Twice a month
  • Read your favorite story
  • Teach us about your culture
  • Do a craft with the class
  • Email me if you would like to be our guest. Tell
    me the date and what you will be doing. A time
    will be determined based on our class schedule
    for that day and your availability.

Standardized Testing
  • PARCC is in April
  • DONT WORRY!!!
  • We will prepare for it in class. In addition,
    the school will offer prep classes.

Classroom Needs
  • Please replenish your childs pencil supply as
    the year continues.
  • When sending money into school, place in an
    envelope with your childs name, class (3Ciampa),
    amount enclosed, and what the money is for.(ex.
    lunch money)
  • Tissues and wipes are always needed and
    appreciated!
  • Volunteers will be needed for our field trip.
