Title: Tropical Rainforest

1
Tropical Rainforest
Anthony, Keegan, Isabela
2
Where is ecosystem located?
  • Madagascar, South and Central America, Australia,
    West Africa, Southeast Asia.

3
Describe the abiotic factors of your ecosystem
  • Sunlight and moisture usually constant and
    plentiful
  • Most temperatures average from 70 to 85 degrees F
  • 80 to 400 inches of rain every year
  • Sunlight is scarce beneath the layers
  • Damp, humid

4
Producer Bromeliad. How does your producer rely
on other organisms in the Rain Forest to
survive?
  • Animals droppings, frog droppings
  • Use tadpole eggs that are not eaten for nutrients
  • Attach to tree to grow

5
How do other organisms of your ecosystem rely on
your producer to survive
  • Shelter for frogs, snakes, lizards
  • Provide food for birds that eat insects in the
    bromeliad
  • Water for tadpoles

6
How do humans affect your ecosystem?
  • Chop down trees for farming, cattle and lumber
    -destroys the rainforest
  • Oil drilling and spills
  • Eco tourisms shows people the rainforests beauty
    without destroying it
  • Replanting trees gives animals homes if their
    tree got chopped down

7
Choose one biotic or abiotic factor in your
ecosystem describe how a change in one of these
could affect your ecosystem.
  • Change no rain
  • If there was no rain in the rainforest eventually
    it would become a desert
  • Bromeliads would die so the tadpoles die
  • Birds that eat tadpoles would die so the snakes
will die because the snake eats the bird
  • The herbivores would die because there would be
    no food (plants) for them
  • The carnivores would die because there would be
    no food (animals) for them

8
Other interesting facts
  • Rainforests have been on earth from 70 to100
    million years
  • A quarter of medicine comes from Rainforest
