AM Rush vs. PM Rush
  • For the AM rush, the Q train should reverse on
    the Queens-bound side
  • For the PM rush, the Q train should reverse on
    the Manhattan-bound side

10
Additional Capacity
  • With 5-8 trains per hour and additional 10,000 to
16,000 passengers could be served in 21St,
    Roosevelt Island, and Lex
  • Does not take away capacity of 63 St connector in
    LIC
  • Does not take away capacity from Rockefeller
    Center

11
Using Switching / SignalingThat Already Exists
  • Previously, trains terminated at 21St
    Queensbridge with switch and reverse
  • Trains reverse/cross in opposite directions
elsewhere in the system (e.g., 34 Street and 6
    Ave)
  • By using the Queens-bound platform for
reverse/switch for AM rush, if there are any
delays in reversing, it doesnt back up into the
incoming rush trains (e.g., 63 St connector in
    LIC)
