Earth is the third planet from the sun.
Continents are the land surfaces of the world.

  • Asia is the worlds largest continent. Asia has
    44 countries.
  • Asia has the world's tallest mountain, Mt.
    Everest in Nepal, at 29,035 ft (8,850m), and the
    world's most populated countries China and
    India.

Africa
  • Africa is the 2nd largest continent. It has 53
    countries.
  • It has the longest river in the world, the Nile
    River and the biggest desert , the Sahara Desert
    .

North America
  • North America is the 3rd largest continent. The
    countries in North America are Canada, Greenland,
    Mexico, the United States, all the countries of
    Central America and the island countries and
    dependencies of the Caribbean.

The tallest mountain is Mt. McKinley, in Alaska,
at 20,322ft.(6,194m). Death Valley is below sea
level.

South America
  • South America is the planet's 4th largest
    continent. It has12 countries and 3 major
    territories.

South America has the largest rain forest in the
world and the largest river, the Amazon.

Antarctica
Antarctica is almost 98 solid ice. It became a
continent in 1840. Argentina, Australia, Chile,
France, New Zealand, Norway and the United
Kingdom claim Antarctica as their territory.
 
Antarctica is the coldest and windiest spot on
the planet. The lowest temperature ever recorded
on Earth was recorded in Antarctica. It was
-129.3ºF. Winds are can blow up to 200 miles per
hour.

Europe
Europe is the 6th largest continent. It has 46
countries, and a few territories.
Europe is separated from Asia by Russia's Ural
Mountains.

Australia
  • Australia is the smallest continent in the world.
    It is one of the most fascinating areas on
    earth.

A lot of experts now say that continent of
Australia to be called Australia/Oceania.
This area combines all of Australia, New Zealand,
Papua New Guinea, and volcanic islands of the
South Pacific Ocean, including the Melanesia and
Polynesia.
