The Mandala Project
  • Day 1 classwork 12/3
  • Day 2 3 Classwork 12/4-5
  • Once you have completed all four charts, you are
    ready to begin mapping out your mandala. Using
    the blank mandala provided in this packet, map
    out the story of who you are and how your life
    reflects the 8-Fold Path.
  • Requirements Your mandala must
  • Tell the story of who you are
  • Incorporate symbols, symbolic color, images and
    scenes
  • Use all spaces provided
  • Be cut out as a circle
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the 8-Fold
    Path
  • Demonstrate care and craftsmanship
  • Once your concept map is complete, you will get a
    large mandala to complete the final mandala.
  • You will be given 3 class periods in Social
    Studies to work on your mandala. However, you
    must begin work on the mandala at home so that we
    can check your progress in class.
  • During these two days, we will review your
    progress. It is a good idea to work in pencil
    until we have checked in on your progress.
  • You will have access to the art cart and all its
    supplies during these days.

Due Dates
  • WED Dec 3 Charts 1 and 2. (20 pts)
  • THURS Dec 4 Charts 3 and 4. (20 pts)
  • FRI Dec 5 Sketch on Practice Idea Map (20 pts)
  • Checkpoint and classwork on Day 2 3 will be
    graded amount of progress on the project, ability
    to communicate ideas, willingness to accept
    constructive criticism. (20 points)
  • TUES Dec 9 Finished mandala graded on
    craftsmanship the extent to which your mandala
    meets the requirements. (50 points)
