accordance with the Class Time Structure so that
the three purposes of the Sunday School can have
    a platform and proper emphasis.

7
Sunday School Task 1
  • Reach People for Christ Church Membership

8
Sunday School Task 2
  • Teach People Gods Word
  • To Win the Lost
  • Disciple the Saved

9
The Teacher
  • The Teacher is the Pastor/Shepherd and primary
leader of the class. Rarely will a Sunday School
class stay with its purpose of reaching the lost
and caring for and teaching the saved without the
visible, vital leadership of its teacher.
  • Teachers are responsible for leading people
toward faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and for
guiding them to serve Him through worship,
    evangelism, fellowship, discipleship, and
    ministry.

10
The Teacher
  • In pursuing this mission, teachers must
understand that teaching moves beyond the hourly
Bible study session into the daily lives of the
    class members and prospects.
  • With a servant's heart, the Sunday School Teacher
must ensure that a positive ministry environment
is provided during the class time that
facilitates the work of the Holy Spirit.

11
Sunday Morning Schedule
  • Fellowship Time (10 minutes)
  • Announcements (5 minutes)
  • Outreach Discussion/Testimonies/Emphasis
    (10 minutes)
  • Care Group Time (15 minutes)
  • Bible Study (35-40 minutes)

12
Sunday School Task 3
  • Minister to People
  • Ministry takes place when divine resources
touch human needs through loving channels to the
    glory of God.

13
10 Reasons We Need Care Groups
  1. To place people in a comfort zone.
  2. To enhance member interaction.
  3. To develop relationships.
  4. To develop intimacy.
  5. To assimilate new members.

14
Reasons We Need Care Groups
  • 6. To follow up on visitors.
  • 7. To provide a caring ministry.
  • 8. To contact absentees.
  • 9. To hold each other accountable.
  • 10. To keep the church small.

15
Our job will be complete when we have discipled
the people in our classes to the point that they
understand the purpose in their own service and
then seek a place to minister.
16
Why People Dont Want To Begin New Classes
  1. Most people do not buy into birthing a new unit
out of their class because they do not understand
    the reason for doing it.
  2. New Units New People New Growth
  3. Most classes reach a saturation point at between
    eighteen-to twenty-four months.
  4. We must constantly remind ourselves that church
    is not just for us.
  5. We must understand it is Gods will for the
    church to grow.

17
5 Barriers To Starting New Classes
  1. The focus of the class is turned inward.
  2. An unwillingness to pay the price.
  3. Inappropriate leadership.
  4. Possessing a hikers attitude rather than a
    trailblazers attitude.
  5. Over-attachment to one teacher, one class or room.

18
What Now?
  • Get your organization set as soon as possible!
  • Make sure your leaders attend training.
  • Begin praying with your leaders about what God
would have you do in the next 18 months!

    week typically)

23
BEST SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER IVE EVER KNOWN SAYS.
  • Immerse yourself in the scripture passage for
    the week.
  • Monday, Tuesday Wednesday I read the scripture
    in 10 translations.
  • 2. Be personally involved in the life of your
    class members.
  • Use your ministry list as a rolodex to call 4-5
members each week to pray with them and check on
    them.

24
  • 3. Be really open and transparent with your
    class.
  • Dont put yourself on a pedestal.
  • If you have a bad week and the passage helped you
get through, share that with your class.
  • If youve had a personal experience that reflects
the reality of the scriptures power to change
    lives, share it.
  • If you have a hard time with a lesson dont run
from teaching it, be vulnerable with your class
and ask them to pray for you as you teach.
