What is news?

• We will be learning what is important and
  newsworthy to our appropriate audiences.
• We are doing this because it is important to keep
  our families informed of what we are doing in the
  classroom and what is important to us.
• Our project will be a group effort.

Roles

• Reporters decide on topics and write articles
• Interviewers conduct interviews and write them
  up
• Production Assistants type up articles and help
  with layout
• Editors proofread articles
• All students will be able to contribute artwork
  and photographs at any time

Flexible Schedule

• Introduction about newspapers and activation of
  prior knowledge
• Decide, as a group, what our newsletter needs to
  look like and include. Also decide on needed
  deadlines and what the rubric will be for the
  final product
• In-depth discussion for each job and its duties
• Assign jobs for first publication
• Gather and share information
• Editing process
• Production process
• Celebrate!
• Debrief
• Start the cycle again a the the assign jobs step,
  by assigning different students to different jobs

Possible Problems

• Time constraints
• Technology difficulties
• Lack of attendance
• Co-workers job performance and behavior
• Having trouble compromising

Learner Diversity

• If a job is too difficult for a student pair them
  up with another student and they can work closely
  together.
• Allow extra time to complete assignment if
  something beyond their control is holding them
  up. i.e. Unfamiliar with keyboard so typing is
  slow-allow extra practice time on keyboarding
  program sometime during the day to improve skill
• Rotate jobs to create fair and unpartial
  opportunities
