• Gainful Employment
• Final regs (October 2010) require schools to
  disclose job placement rates for programs that
  prepare students for gainful employment.
• Affects CCC certificate programs only

• Proposed Reg/Definition
• Of all students that received a credential during
  year
• that were gainfully employed in occupation for
  which they were trained or related field for at
  least 13 weeks within 6 months after receiving
  degree.
• Satisfactory documentation written statement
  from students employer, signed copies of income
  tax forms, or state-sponsored workforce data
  systems

Gainful Employment

• Beginning July 1, 2011
• Institutions will disclose job placement for each
  gainful employment program using rates already
  required by its accrediting agency or State.
• This interim method will be used until NCES/IPEDS
  develops a methodology.
• SSA match, state EDD system preferred

  data system in CA
• JPA concept awaiting agreement between CDE, CCC,
  CSU, UC, CPEC, EDD
• Current SB885 (Simitian) paves the way for this
  to occur
