Plastic Prints

• Also called indented or molded prints
• Made by pressing finger against a plastic-like
  material to form a negative impression of a
  fingerprint.
• This includes
• Fresh paint - Soap
• Putty - Gum
• candle wax - Stamp

Visible Prints

• Prints left at a crime scene were the finger was
  placed in a liquid or aqueous material.
• This includes
• Blood - Dust
• Paint - Chalk
• Ink - Mud
• Grease

Latent Prints

• Are impressions left by friction ridge skin on a
  surface, such as a tool handle, glass, door, etc.
• These prints are essentially invisible and must
  be developed by chemical or physical means.

Some investigators use fluorescent powder and UV
lights to help them find latent prints on
multi-colored or dark surfaces.
