Guidelines for Parenthetical Documentation
  • Works by one author give the authors last name
    in parentheses at the end of a sentence or quote,
    followed by the page number.
  • Klein Forest students are wonderful
    (Trochesset 2).

  • If you mention the authors name in the sentence
    preceding the quote, you need only provide the
    page number of the work.

Works by more than one author
  • List all the names in parentheses, or give one
    last name followed by et al.

Works with no author listed
  • When citing an article that does not identify the
    author, use the title of the work, or a shortened
    version of it.

Two works by the same author
  • If you use more than one book or article by the
    same author, give the title, of a shortened
    version, after the authors last name.
