READ ISAIAH 311-3
  • THE FOLLY OF NOT TRUSTING GOD
  • 1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, And
rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because
they are many, And in horsemen because they are
very strong, But who do not look to the Holy One
of Israel, Nor seek the LORD!
  • 2 Yet He also is wise and will bring disaster,
And will not call back His words, But will arise
against the house of evildoers, And against the
help of those who work iniquity.
  • 3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God And
their horses are flesh, and not spirit. When the
LORD stretches out His hand, Both he who helps
will fall, And he who is helped will fall down
    They all will perish together.

  • WHY GO TO EGYPT FOR HELP?
  • WHY NOT TRUST IN THE LORD?

QUESTIONS ISAIAH 311-3
  • THE FOLLY OF NOT TRUSTING GOD
  • 1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, And
rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because
they are many, And in horsemen because they are
very strong, But Who do not look to the Holy One
of Israel, Nor seek the LORD!
  • WHAT DID THE EGYPTIANS DO TO THE HEBREW CHILDREN?
  • READ EXODUS 145-13
  • 5 It was told the king of Egypt that the people
had fled and the heart of Pharaoh and his
servants was turned against the people. They
said, Why have we done this, that we have let
    Israel go from serving us?
  • 6 So He made ready his chariot and took his
    people with him.
  • 7 Also he took six hundred choice chariots and
all the chariots of Egypt with captains over
    every one of them.
  • 8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king
of Egypt and he pursued the children of Israel.
The children of Israel went out with boldness.
  • 9 So The Egyptians pursued them, all the horses
and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen and his
army. And they overtook them camping by the sea
beside Pi Hahiroth, before Baal Zephon.

7
QUESTIONS ISAIAH 311-3
  • 1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, And
rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because
they are many, And in horsemen because they are
very strong, But Who do not look to the Holy One
of Israel, Nor seek the LORD!
  • WHAT DID THE LORD DO TO PHAROAHS ARMY?
  • READ EXODUS 145-13
  • 10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of
Israel lifted their eyes and Behold, the
Egyptians marched after them. They were very
afraid and the children of Israel cried out to
    the LORD.
  • 11 They said to Moses, Because there were no
graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in
the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to
bring us up out of Egypt?
  • 12 Is this not the word that we told you in
Egypt, Saying, Let us alone that we may serve the
Egyptians? It would have been better for us to
serve the Egyptians than that we should die in
    the wilderness.
  • 13 And Moses said to the people, Do not be
afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the
LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For
the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see
    again no more forever. NKJV

8
QUESTIONS ISAIAH 311-3
  • WHAT IS THE FOLLY OF NOT TRUSTING IN GOD?
  • WHAT HAPPENED TO THE KINGS OF THE NORTH?
  • READ JOSHUA 114-9
  • 4 So they (the kings of the North) went out, they
and all their armies with them, as many people as
the sand that is on the seashore in multitude,
with very many horses and chariots.
  • 5 And when all these kings had met together, they
came and camped together at the waters of Merom
    to fight against Israel.
  • 6 But the LORD said to Joshua Do not be afraid
of them. For tomorrow about this time I will
deliver all of them slain before Israel. You
shall hamstring their horses and burn their
    chariots with fire.
  • 7 So Joshua and all the people of war with him
came against them suddenly by the waters of Merom
    and attacked them.
  • 8 And the LORD delivered them into the hand of
Israel, who defeated them and chased them to
Greater Sidon, to the Brook Misrephoth, and to
the Valley of Mizpah eastward they attacked them
until they left none of them remaining.
  • 9 So Joshua did to them as the LORD had told him
He hamstrung their horses and burned their
    chariots with fire. NKJV

very strong, But Who do not look to the Holy One
of Israel, Nor seek the LORD!
  • WHAT IS THE FOLLY OF NOT TRUSTING IN GOD?
  • WHY WAS JUDAH UNABLE TO DRIVE OUT
  • THE INHABITANTS OF THE LOWLANDS?
  • READ JUDGES 118-19
  • 18 Judah took Gaza with its territory, Ashkelon
with its territory, and Ekron with its territory.
  • 19 The LORD was with Judah and they drove out the
mountaineers. They could not drive out the
inhabitants of the lowland, because they had
    chariots of iron.

10
QUESTIONS ISAIAH 311-3
  • WHAT IS THE FOLLY OF NOT TRUSTING IN GOD?
  • WHY WERE THE MEN OF ISRAEL DISTRESSED?
  • WHY DID SAUL OFFER A BURNT OFFERING?
  • READ 1 SAMUEL 135-10
  • 5 Then the Philistines gathered together to fight
with Israel, thirty thousand chariots and six
thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which
is on the seashore in multitude. They came up and
encamped in Michmash, to the east of Beth Aven.
  • 6 When the men of Israel saw that they were in
danger (for the people were distressed), then the
people hid in caves, in thickets, in rocks, in
    holes and in pits.
  • 7 As for Saul, he was still in Gilgal and all the
    people followed him trembling.
  • 8 Then he waited seven days, according to the
time set by Samuel. But Samuel did not come to
Gilgal and the people were scattered from him.
  • 9 Saul said, Bring a burnt offering and peace
offerings here to me. And he offered the burnt
    offering.
  • 10 Now it happened, as soon as he had finished
presenting the burnt offering, that Samuel came
and Saul went out to meet him, that he might
    greet him. NKJV

11

of Zobah, as he went to recover his territory at
    the River Euphrates.

  • READ 1 KINGS 1028-29
  • 28 Also Solomon had horses imported from Egypt
and Keveh the king's merchants bought them in
    Keveh at the current price.
  • 29 Now a chariot that was imported from Egypt
cost six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse
one hundred and fifty and thus, through their
agents, they exported them to all the kings of
the Hittites and the kings of Syria. NKJV

the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon
and all his army came against Jerusalem and
encamped against it and they built a siege wall
    against it all around.
  • 5 So the city was besieged until the eleventh
    year of King Zedekiah.
  • 6 By the fourth month, on the ninth day of the
month, the famine had become so severe in the
city that there was no food for the people of the

  • 21 Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh
king of Egypt. See, it has not been bandaged for
healing, nor a splint put on to bind it, to make
it strong enough to hold a sword.
  • 22 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD Surely I am
against Pharaoh king of Egypt. I will break his
arms, both the strong one and the one that was
broken. And I will make the sword fall out of his
    hand.

Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down
they shall know that I am the LORD, when I put My
sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he
