Title: Prokaryotic vs Eukaryotic Cells

1
Prokaryotic vs Eukaryotic Cells
  • Standard S7L2. Students will describe the
structure and function of cells, tissues, organs,
    and organ systems.

2
What are the two groups of cells?
  • Prokaryotic Cells
  • Eukaryotic Cells

3
What are prokaryotic cells?
  • Cells without membrane-bound structures.
  • Hereditary material is free to move throughout
    the cell. No nucleus.
  • Only found in one-celled organisms
  • Ex) Bacteria

4
What are eukaryotic cells?
  • Cells with membrane-bound structures.
  • Hereditary material is bound within the nucleus
and is unable to move throughout the cell.
  • Make up multi-celled organisms. Ex) Protists,
    Fungi, Plants, and Animals

5
Parts of Cells
6
What do all cells have in common?
  • Both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells have a cell
    membrane, cytoplasm, ribosomes, and DNA.

7
What are the two types of eukaryotic cells?
  • Animal Cell
  • Plant Cell

8
Eukaryotic cells are made up of?
  • Organelles
  • Structures found within the cytoplasm of
    eukaryotic cells
  • All organelles have to function together in order
    for the cell to survive.
