Overview
  • SCOMA objectives
  • Need for knowledge sharing and integration
  • Modeling tool
  • Architecture of a web-based portal
  • Status of the implementation
  • Conclusions and further work

4
Objectives
  • Aims of SCOMA
  • To launch an international center for scientific
computing and optimization, combining multi- and
    interdisciplinary applications in industry,
    economics and finances.
  • To link with worldwide scientific computing
centers and collaborate with small and large
    industries on RD projects
  • To develop multidisciplinary methods and tools
and to share knowledge with small and large
    industries

5
Need for knowledge sharing and integration
  • Combine
  • Link
  • Collaborate
  • Share knowledge

6
Modeling tool
  • A graph with constraints on nodes and edges for
    convenient domain modeling

Conclusions and further work
  • Proof-of-concept prototype was developed and
    deployed
  • SCOMA domain ontology iterative elaboration
  • Search algorithm improvement
  • Synchronization of an RDF-Server and ontology
    development tool
  • Web-interface improvement
  • Software documentation

14
The potential of the technology
  • Easy to extend and update a model
  • Add new descriptive features when needed
  • No need to modify previously entered data
  • Seamless integration and mapping
  • Expressivity of the RDF-based model covers all
    mainstream data management technologies (RDBMS,
    XML)
  • Native support for reasoning (making implicit
    knowledge explicit), for example
  • If I need an expert in Numerical Analysis,
then an expert in Partial Differential
Equations might be also of interest to me
