- Evaluation scales have been developed to assess
the infants condition at birth. - Apgar (0-2) 1 and 5 minutes after birth. Summed,
the scores 7-10 are normal. - Heart rate
- Respiration
- Reflex
- Muscle tone
- Skin color
- Brazelton (24-36 hours after birth)
- Range of 28 behaviors (sucking reflex, motor
system control)
