• Two word combination that adds to the action of a
  sentence

• Leg burning, I limp through the burning forest.

  to avoid getting water on his paws.

Appositive

• Noun that adds a second image to a preceding noun
• Expands the readers imagination
• Must be next to the noun its modifing.

  girl, looks completely terrified.

  tree to tree.
• Claudius Templesmith, a creature-like being, sat

• Amplify the details of an image
• Leave one adjective in its place and move the
  others after the noun.

Action Verbs

• Eliminates passive voice
