The Sobering Facts.
  • The NYC graduation rate in 2008 is 60.7. Of
    those students, 45 still need remediation in
    their first year of college.
  • Stats show an increase in over-aged and
    under-credited 9th graders entering high school
  • 47.2 percent of African-American scholars and 43
    percent of Hispanic scholars graduate from high
    school in four years (NYSED)
  • Negative feelings regarding education begin
    during middle school transition

  • Leadership course work will support scholars in
    effectively working with and leading groups,
    families, and friends by actively demonstrating
    respect for the voices of others and their own

    the period. All students completed tasks asked
    of them in a timely and professional manner.
  • 3 Class remained focused and on task for the
    majority of the period. Most students completed
    the tasks asked of them in a timely and
    professional manner with minimal reminders from
    teacher.
  • 2 Class remained focused and on task for some of
    the period. Some students completed the tasks
    asked of them in a timely and professional
    manner. Teacher needed to speak to the class or
    select students repeatedly.
  • 1 Class was unfocused and off task for majority
    of the period despite numerous reminders from the
    teacher.

Professional Behavior Uniform
  • The uniform consists of a maroon polo-style shirt
    with the school logo, navy blue trousers and
    black shoes/ boots.
  • TOPS
  • Navy blue sweaters over their uniform shirts.
  • Shirts must be tucked into pants all day.
  • Bottoms
  • Navy blue dress pants. Jeans are not acceptable.
  • Shoes
  • Solid black boots or shoes . NO WHITE or COLOR!
  • Accessories Hats, head coverings, excessive
    jewelry, or distracting make-up are not to be
    worn in the school building. Anything deemed to
    be distracting to the learning process is not
    permitted.

  • Scholars should bring their HW, planners,
    binders and writing utensils to school everyday.
  • Other supplies will be needed for subject
    classes.

  • Every scholar must have an INDEPENDENT READING
    BOOK!
  • Ask your child what he or she is reading this
    week.

Professional BehaviorWhat not to bring.
  • Technology, Silly Bands, Toys, etc.
  • First offense Scholars must pick up their
    device at the end of the school day in the main
    office
  • Second offense Scholars may pick up their
    device on Friday at the end of the school day in
    the main office
  • Third offense A parent must visit the school to
    retrieve the device.
  • Fourth offense A parent may visit the school to
    retrieve the device end of the marking period.

  • Scholars are expected to be at school at 800 am.
    Scholars after this time will be considered
    late.
  • Dismissal Mon Thurs 255 Fri 230 pm
  • 90 attendance for promotion to the next grade
    level
  • A hundred percent (100) attendance should be
    the goal of every scholar.
  • Phone calls will be made daily if late/ absent!
