Their Father

• Their fathers name was Zebedee.
• They shared the same occupation as their father.
• We know this because it tells us in the calling
  of James and John .
• They left him immediately after Jesus called them
  to be apostles.

Occupation

• James and John were fishermen until Jesus called
  them.
• Jesus did many miracles that involved them
  fishing in their
• boat.

The Calling

• James and John were on their boat with their
  father Zebedee.
• Jesus came to their boat and said Follow me and
  I will make you fishers of men.
• James and John left their boat and their father
  and followed Jesus.

• Jesus called for James, John,
• and Peter.
• He took them up on a
• Mountainside.
• Jesus face and clothes began
• to glow brighter than the light.
• Moses and Elijah appeared on
• his right and left.
• The disciples fell on their faces
• in awe.
• Jesus said, Get up. and only Jesus remained.

• They had a reputation for getting very angry
  very fast.
• Jesus gave them the name Boanerges, which means
  Sons of Thunder.

The Miracles of James and John

• James and John did many miracles.
• They cast out demons and healed many people in
  the name of Jesus.
• They were also present at many miracles in the
  Bible.
• One instance is when Jesus went up on the
  mountain for his transfiguration.
• Peter was also present here.

• They were present at the healing of Jairuss
  daughter.
• They were also present at the healing of Peters
  mother-in-law and the two draughts of fish (the
  two miracles involving their calling and casting
  their nets on the other side).

  entrusted his mother in Johns care.

• They lived in Jerusalem for a time.
• They were constantly moving from place to place
  with Jesus.
• They lived with other people when they traveled
  from place to place.

• Some things James and John did (besides miracles)
  include asking Jesus if they should bring fire
  from Heaven down upon the city of Samaritans who
  did not accept Jesus.
• Jesus told them no and said that Jesus did not
  come to destroy man but to save them.

  his right and left when they got to
