Theme 1 LOCATION
  • Exact Location
  • Uses latitude and longitude to find the exact
    location of a place.
  • RELATIVE LOCATION
  • The location of a place in relation to some
    other places or objects.

Examples of Relative Location
  • Coxsackie is between Albany and Catskill.
  • Albany is between Canada and New York
    City.

Examples of Exact Location
  • Paris, France is 48o51' North
    latitude and 2.20' East longitude
  • - Florence, AL is 34o46' North latitude and
    87.40' West longitude

Theme 2 PLACE
  • PHYSICAL FEATURES such as climate soil, plant
    life, animal life, and bodies of water.
  • HUMAN FEATURES such as kinds of houses people
    build, means of transportation, religion, and
    languages spoken.

  • Interaction between people and their environment.
    People have had to adapt to their changing
    environment.
  • For example The first Natives came to America
    across the land bridge hunting for food sources.

  • Movement involves the movement of people from
    place to place,and the exchange of goods and
    ideas.

    search of expressing their political views, and

  • A Region is an area of the world that has similar
    or unifying characteristics.
  • A region can be described as in a physical region
    or can be united by common cultural
    characteristics.
