    users and potential purchasers of the Clients CDM
    Compliance Kit with a brief overview of the
    product and the benefits it offers

Overview
  • The Clients CDM Compliance Kit has been
    specifically designed to assist Clients to comply
    with their duties under the Construction (Design
    and Management) Regulations 2007 (CDM). 
  • The software has been written by practising
    Construction Safety Professionals who have a
    detailed understanding and knowledge of both the
    construction industry and health and safety
    legislation.
  • We have also worked with a wide variety of both
    public and private clients, so we understand the
    needs and requirements of such organisations.

What does it do?
  • The software assists Clients by
  • Providing a wide range of standard
    templates/proformas
  • Making sure clients are aware of their duties
  • Providing systems and guidance on the assessment
    of the competence resources of designers,
    contractors and CDM Co-ordinators
  • Guidance on the requirements for Pre-Construction
    Health Safety Information Packs
  • Systems for assessing the suitability of the
    Construction Phase HS Plan
  • Provides prompts as to what when, a client
    needs to take action, thereby ensuring compliance
    with the CDM Regs
  • It also provides an audit trail of the actions
    taken

How is this achieved?
  • This is achieved in a variety of ways including
  • The provision of checklists which outline the
    duties and roles of the Client at each stage of a
    project
  • Acting as an aide memoir to ensure Clients are
    aware of the actions they need to take, whilst
    also providing an auditable record of the actions
    taken
  • Enabling Design Safety Statements (DSS), Design
    Safety Reviews (DSR), Design Risk Assessments
    (DRA) and Hazard Registers to be prepared, these
    provide an ideal mechanism to communicate
    information with other parties

  • The provision of a wide range of example
    documents (MS Word format) which can be accessed
    at the appropriate work stage by clicking on the
    shortcut button located at the side of the audit
    records
  • Documents which can be edited and amended by the
    user and are entirely customisable to allow for
    the specific Client requirements to be catered
    for
  • Links to the other modules within the Compliance
    Kit are also provided, this enables users to
    quickly switch between modules as and when
    required

Ensuring Compliance
  • Whilst the Clients CDM Compliance Kit will not
    automatically make a project safer, it will help
    you to manage project safety matters and ensure
    all parties are aware of their duties and
    obligations under CDM, it will also help you to
    ensure you are discharging your legal duties
    under CDM 2007.
  • Furthermore the integral audit facility will
    allow Clients to review and assess the actions
    taken by their staff during the life of a project

Features Benefits
  • The following slides provide more information on
    the key features and modules of the Clients CDM
    Compliance Kit
  • Whilst we have not included all of the features
    and modules included within the software, we feel
    that the following slides should provide a
    comprehensive overview of the product and its
    features
  • The only computer skills you need to operate the
    software is to know how to point a mouse, click
    the mouse buttons and use the keyboard to type in
    text

Once loaded, the first screen you will encounter
is the Main Switchboard. This enables users to
view supporting information, create a new
project, open an existing project or exit the
software.

Whenever you open an existing project or create a
new project, you will see the Project Safety
Record HOME PAGE. This screen provides you with
links to each of the software modules and
information associated with a particular
project. By entering the Project Title and No. on
the Home Page, it is automatically transferred to
each of the other modules. To access the project
data, simply click on the relevant button on the
left hand side of the screen.

The first module is that of the Design Safety
Statement, this should be prepared at the start
of a project (and updated as necessary) and is
used to specify any key information such as the
general design criteria and parameters. It can
also be used to record details of any existing
information that is relevant to the project and
which may restrict the design or generate
specific hazards.

The Project Directory is simply used to record
the details of the key parties involved in the
project, this includes not only the core design
team, but also other designers, the Principal
Contractors and other key contractor who will be
involved as the project progresses

The main element of the software consists of the
audit records for each of the project stages.
This informs users of their duties and the
required actions whilst enabling a full audit
record to be prepared. The buttons on the right
hand side of the screen provide a link to the MS
Word documents and other modules within the
Clients CDM Compliance Kit.

Another key element is that of the Design Risk
Assessment (DRA) module. This assists users to
identify hazards and those affected, whilst also
enabling a rapid assessment of the risk to be
carried out. Whilst most Clients may not intend
to carry out any design work, the specification
of project requirements may involve the client in
a design role! Each assessment is carried out on
a separate page and there is no limit to the
number of assessments that can be completed.

To enable the effective transfer of information
between the members of the project team,
information such as the DRAs can be printed off
as shown here, or alternatively it can be
exchanged electronically as Adobe Acrobat Files
(PDF) or Microsoft Document Imaging (MDI) Format.
Neither of these formats require the recipient
to have access to the Clients CDM Compliance
Kit. To create electronic files you need to have
the Adobe Acrobat Software or Microsoft Document
Imaging loaded on your PC.

The Design Safety Reviews enable key information
relevant to the hazards associated with the
project to be recorded. Separate DSRs can be
completed for each project stage and the
information provides a useful format for sharing
the information with other project members.

  • The Clients CDM Compliance Kit can be used by
    Clients, projects managers and others responsible
    for the financing and implementation of
    construction projects
  • The software enables the facilitation of regular
    reviews and compliance checks to be made to
    ensure an organisation is complying with its
    duties under CDM and is providing sufficient
    information regarding the hazards
