dependance on, reliance in Christ's finished
work ALONE
  • Quotes Passages to Prove his point
  • Jn. 112 Jn. 316-18, 36 Jn. 524 Phil. 39 1
    Jn. 513

5
John 112
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the
right to become children of God, to those who
believe in His name.
6
John 316-18
For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should
not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For
God did not send His Son into the world to
condemn the world, but that the world through Him
might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is
not condemned but he who does not believe is
condemned already, because he has not believed in
the name of the only begotten Son of God.
7
John 336
He who believes in the Son has everlasting life
and he who does not believe the Son shall not see
life, but the wrath of God abides on him.
8
John 524
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My
word and believes in Him who sent Me has
everlasting life, and shall not come into
judgment, but has passed from death into life.
9
Philippians 39
and be found in Him, not having my own
righteousness, which is from the law, but that
which is through faith in Christ, the
righteousness which is from God by faith.
10
1 John 513
These things I have written to you who believe
in the name of the Son of God, that you may know
that you have eternal life, and that you may
continue to believe in the name of the Son of
God.

  • Jn. 112 Jn. 316-18, 36 Jn. 524 Phil. 39 1

  • Note All of these passages teach salvation by
Faith, but not by Faith Alone!

mailmandans Claim
You are teaching a "works based FALSE gospel."
  • Note the condemnation of salvation by works in
    Ephesians 28-9

13
Ephesians 28-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith,
and that not of yourselves it is the gift of
God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should
boast. No man can earn his salvation. He cant
boast of deserving to be in heaven. We can
only obtain eternal life due to the grace of God
extended to man

  • Reality We are saved by the Grace of God,
accessed by Faith, and cant earn our salvation.

  • Question What kind of faith?

16
mailmandans two Faiths
So many people confuse head knowledge faith
with HEART knowledge faith.
  • Head Knowledge Faith Believes that Jesus
exists, that he's the Son of God and that his
death, burial and resurrection HAPPENED. This
"faith alone" cannot save you. This is just
    intellectual acknowledgement alone.

17
mailmandans two Faiths
So many people confuse head knowledge faith
with HEART knowledge faith.
  • Heart Knowledge Faith Is head know-ledge faith
TRUSTS IN WHAT HAP-PENED to receive eternal
life. That's the HUGE difference. Trusting 100
in the finished work of Christ ALONE saves. It's
    NOT Christ something else
    baptism, confession etc

18
James two Faiths
  • Faith Without Works (219-20)
  • Merely Mental Assent
  • Does Not Save

19
James 219-20
You believe that there is one God. You do well.
Even the demons believe and tremble! 20 But do
you want to know, O foolish man, that faith
without works is dead?
20
James two Faiths
  • Faith Without Works (219-20)
  • Merely Mental Assent
  • Does Not Save
  • Faith With Works (221-22)
  • Faith proved by doing (cf. vs. 18)
  • Perfect or Saving Faith

21
James 221-22
Was not Abraham our father justified by works
when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22
Do you see that faith was working together with
his works, and by works faith was made perfect?
22
James two Faiths
  • Faith Without Works (219-20)
  • Merely Mental Assent
  • Does Not Save
  • Faith With Works (221-22)
  • Faith proved by doing (cf. vs. 18)
  • Perfect or Saving Faith
  • Faith Alone (214, 17, 24, 26)

23
James 214, 17, 24, 26
(14), What does it profit, my brethren, if
someone says he has faith but does not have
works? Can faith save him? (17), Thus also
faith by itself, if it does not have works, is
dead. (24), You see then that a man is
justified by works, and not by faith only. (26),
For as the body without the spirit is
dead, so faith without works is dead
also.
24
James mailmandan Contrasted
  • James and mailmandan Dead faith is merely
    mental assent.
  • James Saving faith is faith shown by works
    done.
  • Mailmandan Saving faith is trusting 100 in
the finished work of Christ ALONE saves

25
The Necessity of Baptism
  • One of the acts of obedience required by Christ
    to be saved is Baptism
  • Mark 1616 Acts 238 Acts 2216

26
Mark 1615-16
And He said to them, Go into all the world and
preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who
believes and is baptized will be saved but he
who does not believe will be condemned.
27
Acts 237-38
Now when they heard this, they were cut to the
heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the
apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said to them, Repent, and let
every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins and you shall
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
28
Acts 2210, 16
(10), So I said, What shall I do, Lord? And
the Lord said to me, Arise and go into Damascus,
and there you will be told all things which are
appointed for you to do. (16), (Annanias), And
now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized,
and wash away your sins, calling on the name of
the Lord.
29
The Necessity of Baptism
  • One of the acts of obedience required by Christ
    to be saved is Baptism
  • Mark 1616 Acts 238 Acts 2216
  • Baptism doesnt earn salvation
  • Answer of a good conscience (1
    Pet. 321)

30
1 Peter 320-22
when once the Divine longsuffering waited in
the days of Noah, while the ark was being
prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls,
were saved through water. 21 There is also an
antitype which now saves us baptism (not the
removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer
of a good conscience toward God), through the
resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone
into heaven and is at the right hand of God,
angels and authorities and powers
having been made subject to Him.
31
Type / Antitype
  • Passover Lamb
  • Aaronic High Priest a
  • Flood (1 Pet. 321)
  • Christ (Does Christs Blood really save?)
  • Christ/Melchizadek (Does Christ really make
    intercession?)
  • Baptism (Does baptism really save?)

32
The Necessity of Baptism
  • One of the acts of obedience required by Christ
    to be saved is Baptism
  • Mark 1616 Acts 238 Acts 2216
  • Baptism doesnt earn salvation
  • Answer of a good conscience (1
    Pet. 321)
  • Baptism the final step (Ro. 61-4)

33
Romans 61-4
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin
that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How
shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were
baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His
death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him
through baptism into death, that just as Christ
was raised from the dead by the glory of the
Father, even so we also should walk in
newness of life.
34
Faith Only?
  • No! Rather, an Obedient faith, made Perfect by
works done by a good conscience!
