3Introduction
- The Egyptian Experience for the Mobile BTS safety
codes has been realized by executing the Egyptian
national project for auditing and monitoring for
the mobile base stations. - The project has begun since 2001
- The project is as a result of successful
cooperation between the National
Telecommunication Institute (NTI) and the
National Telecommunication Regulation Authority
(NTRA) - The main objective of this project is to apply
the certified protocols for both of the old
installed base stations and newly ones.
4Egyptian Safety Codes
- Three Protocols have been issued to regulate the
installation of micro and macro sites, approved
by 3 ministries - -Communications Information Technology
- -Environment Affairs
- -Health and Population
- Macro, Micro, and IR safety guide lines have been
issued based on the research studies that had
been done by the Egyptian research groups from
NTI and TRA and according to the international
safety guide lines. - The Egyptian safety codes may be summarized as
follows
5Summary of the Egyptian Safety Code 1- Macro BTS
- The Antenna heights (15m to 50m)
- 6 m in the main beam
- 2 m in the back beam
- The antenna is above the surrounding buildings in
the radius of 10 m - The Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) Limit is
0.4 mW/cm2 - The antenna height of the pylon on the roof top
is not less than 6 m - The antenna must be fixed on the concrete
structure roof top
62- Micro BTS
- The Antenna heights (not less than 2.5m)
- 0.5 m in the main beam
- Small gain antenna
- The MPE is 0.4 mW/cm2
73- IR
- The unit must be mounted on 3 m pole at the
middle of the roof top or 6m pole for street
mounted units - the main beam must be directed completely to the
outer space of the roof top - The MPE is 1 mW for the aperture of 7 mm

25Configuration of IR
- Pole mounted
- Penthouse mounted
- Roof top edge mounted
26Main Achievements
- Most of installed sites had been measured
- Establishment of re-auditing program
- Surveys cover all of the Governorates
- Measures about 100 sites per month
27Conclusion
- Egypt has issued three protocols for Macro,
Micro, IR sites. - Issuing procedure for site acceptance certificate
- Continuosly revises re-measure of the installed
sites. In order to check the current situation of
the site. - Updating of our protocols based on the experience
gained from practical surveys and following new
researches in this field.
