4. The Project
  • RC. Edwards... February 4th - February 8th

Go Panthers!!!
I observed Mr. Wright's 7th grade first. I wasn't
able to get a picture of students at the middle
school due to the needed permission.

My desk for observing at R.C. Edwards Middle

My Mentor at R.C. Edwards Middle School
Thank you Mr. Wright!
Mr. Wright, an R.C. Edwards Middle School 7th

secondary schools. Thank you Mr. Wright!!!

Clemson Elementary School
February 11th -February 15th
  • I observed and helped out at Clemson Elementary
next. I really enjoyed going there. This is the
level that I finally concluded I should teach.

Ryan went to Clemson Elementary next!
12
What I found...
The kids at this table were busy having their
Valentine's party. I was able to take pictures
because the teacher already had permission.
13
My mentor at Clemson Elementary School
Mrs. Hardin is a 3rd and 4th grade teacher at
Clemson Elementary. She was my mentor for the
elementary schools. Thank you Mrs. Hardin!!!
Thank you Mrs. Hardin!

10- It has taken almost all year to get this
whole project together. This presentation was
the hardest part of the whole Senior Project.
The Hands-on Project- I liked being able to see
what a teacher deals with and dealing with kids.
It would have been better if I did the Hands- on
in the morning and earlier in the year. When I
got there almost everyone was tired. The
classes were wrapping up for the day or year.
Start on it early- If you have to change
something later its okay. Also, pick something
you really are interested in. I did both and I
am glad of it.
I think we need several meetings between students
and the steering committee. We need s way for
Senior Project to be consecutive. Some were at
one point while others were at a different point.
Its hard to get help because of this. Its hard
to know what we should be doing and how to do
it. Individual teachers and Advisors can help
some, but I think better results would come if
everybody was on the same page.

6. The Research
  • Learning styles
  • Teaching styles
    - Direct
    - Constructivism

16
For even more research, consult Ryan's research
paper in the portfolio.
6. More Research...
Any questions?
In my research I found that according to a
learning pyramid made by National Training
Laboratories in Bethel, Maine, retention rates
were low to significantly low in the traditional
teaching category.
Traditional Teaching
Considered Both
Constructivism
Lectures, Reading, Audiovisuals, and
Demonstrations are all Traditional Teaching
Discussion is considered both. Some people argue
it's Traditional, and to some its Constructive
teaching.
The last two are considered Constructive.

The project schedule
The hands-on project was started on February 4th,
2008 to continued February, 15th, 2008. I ended
up with 20 hours of hands-on. Work continued on
the portfolio from February 15th, 2008 to
20
I would like to dedicate this project to all the
wonderful teachers that have taught me and got me
to graduation.I also would like to thank all
teachers for the great teaching they do.Also....
