Title: Here is the pH meter, start by hitting the ON button, LET THE METER WARM UP FOR 2-3 MINUTES.

1
Here is the pH meter, start by hitting the ON
button, LET THE METER WARM UP FOR 2-3 MINUTES.
2
  • LEAVE THE ELECTRODE IN THE STORAGE SOLUTION UNTIL
YOU ARE READY TO CALIBRATE. MAKE SURE YOU NEVER
LEAVE IT OPEN TO THE AIR.

3
  • Measure the temperature of one of the buffers
(they should be very close to the same).

4
  • Use the ?C and?C buttons to set the temperature
    equal to the buffer temperature.

5
  • Rinse the pH probe with distilled water. Here is
a glass tip probe- we also have probes with
plastic collars around the glass tip.

6
  • Dry the probe by blotting gently with a piece of
    tissue.

7
  • Immerse the probe in pH 7 buffer and swirl
    gently.

8
  • Push the CAL button (calibrate). Button must be
    pushed FIRMLY!

9
  • Check the secondary pH display (lower right hand
corner. This should read 7.01, if it doesnt,
press the ?C and?C buttons until it reads 7.01.

10
  • The meter will read NOT READY until the reading
    stabilizes.

11
  • Wait for the meter to read READY.

12
  • Push the CFM (confirm) button, the pH should
change to match 7.01 (or close- the pH of the
buffer may not be 7.01 at lab temperature).

13
  • Remove the electrode and rinse with distilled
water, dry and place in the pH 4 buffer. (Or pH
10 if we will be measuring bases)

14
  • Once again check the secondary pH display in the
bottom right corner and make sure it reads 4.01.
    Adjust if necessary as before.

15
  • Wait for the meter to read READY and press the
    CFM button again.

16
  • Here is the reading after hitting CFM.

17
  • Remove and rinse the probe- it is now ready to
read your pH. Remember to put the probe back
into the storage solution when you are done.
This calibration needs to be done once per block.
