    and where, now or later?
  • Explain What happened that you didn't like and
    what do you want?
  • Acknowledge Recognize anything you did that
contributed to the conflict, but acknowledge your
right to treated with respect by the other person
    and vice versa.
  • Lock Lock in the friendship, take a vacation, or
    lock the friendship out.

15
Stop and Think!
  • Breathe, listen, and think
  • when and where,
  • now or later?

16
Explain!
  • What happened that you didn't like
  • and what do you want?

17
Acknowledge!
  • Recognize anything you did that contributed to
    the conflict,
  • but acknowledge your right to treated with
respect by the other person and vice versa.

18
Lock
  • Lock in the friendship,

Scenario
  • Laura Did you see Sara trying to guess what we
were talking about? Shes so stupid, she totally

  • Roger I guess

about what I need to say. I dont want to say
    something Ill regret.
  • Explain I dont want to pretend shes
invisible. Thats messed up. I dont think itll
    stop her from being mean.
  • Acknowledge You dont have to be friends with
Sara, but we cant be mean to her. Imagine if
    everyone was ignoring you.
  • Lock This was hard because I really like you as
a friend, but I dont want to ignore someone like
that. I hope were still cool.
