Who designed it?

• A committee chaired by the Dean of the Honors
  College.
• Included
• Faculty (several)
• Director of the Advisement Center
• Asst. VP of Enrollment Services
• Registrar
• Systems Analysts
• Student Body President

What it took

• The committee met each month of the spring and
  fall semesters for two years.
• Less than 17 meetings of the full committee
  allowed us to produce
• more than 28 modules. There was strong user
  support and lots of involvement by Enrollment
  Services.

Who developed it?

• Core Web Registration components written by
  four people in 14 weeks.
• 1.5 Systems Analysts
• 2.5 Programmer/Analysts
• Some code-reuse from the transactional system.
  Mature web development infrastructure.

How?

• The systems were designed as a collaborative
  effort of the committee. Naturally, there were
  conflicting opinions, needs and perspectives.
  Success was achieved because there was a common
  goal and a shared desire to make it happen.
• Focus sessions with students, faculty and staff
  provided more diverse testing and invaluable
  feedback.

Nuts and Bolts

• System runs on Microsoft IIS and consists of
  ASPs using HTML, JavaScript and VBScript.
• All code is ADA compliant.

• Web Registration was developed in fourteen weeks
  and delivered on time.
• 98 satisfaction rating
• 1,059 students completed our online survey at
  the end of the process.  We asked them if they
  agreed with the statement  The system was easy
  to use.  98 percent either agreed or strongly
  agreed.  For the first release of a new
  technology, we believe that satisfaction level is
  quite remarkable.

• I used the system at (another major university)
  and this one was much less complicated. The
  (other system) required several downloads and
  used menus which were confusing to use. This
  system was very easy to use and not complicated
  at all. Excellent job.
