FAQs
  • Can I enroll in an FSA even if Im not enroll in
    Butler University health insurance?
  • Yes, A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is a
special account set up for you into which you can
set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible,
out-of-pocket costs associated with medical or
dependent daycare services. Because the FSA is
governed by Section 125 of the IRS code, it does
not coordinate with insurance coverage and you do
not have to participate in your employers
medical plan to be eligible for the FSA. This
also means that any legal dependent can use your
FSA funds, regardless of their insurance coverage
    status.
  • Disclaimer If you or your spouse currently
contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA), you
should consult a tax advisor before enrolling in
    an FSA.
