• NCLB caused many states to adjust scoring to
  avoid penalty
• ISAT testing is based on Quadrant A information.
  No application and No higher order thinking
• ISAT is Standards Based and ACT is Norm
  Referenced. Comparing Apples to Oranges

Closing The Gap

• Common Core Standards--Fewer Standards, Deeper
  understanding
• Providing multiple, formative/summative
  assessments
• State considering scoring at the NAEP/ACT levels
  before Common Core in place to lessen the
  impending impact of the first test

What is CIS doing?

• Advanced Classes in all subject areas
• Advanced math has led to higher Exceed
• Enrichment Opportunities
• Classes such as Socrates Cafe, Brainology,
  Speech/Debate, Computers, 5th Grade Math Problem
  Solving are creating high level performance tasks
  for students.
