• The political debate is whether to allow
  scientists to extract stem cells from surplus,
  unneeded, frozen embryos left over from in-vitro
  fertilization procedures in fertility clinics

Conservative Christian groups opposed Bush's
decision because of the fine line between used
descendents of already-extracted stem cells, and
killing of new embryos.
