it also means to do something out of desire.
12

Colossians 323 says, Whatever you do, do it
heartily.
Heartily is from the same term translated will in
Ephesians 66 where Paul encouraged breth-ren to
do Gods will from the heart the point is that
theres a direct connection between heart and

Closed

being closed-minded Their minds were hardened.
For a veil lies on (over) their heart.

Obedient

heart, resulting in salvation.
Impenitent
Romans 25 refers to the impeni-tent heart of
many Jews, resulting in condemnation.
30
The Heart Is Initially Pure.
Matthew 183 tells us that Jesus once said to His
followers, Unless you are converted and become as
little children, you will by no means enter the
kingdom. Then
31
The Heart Is Initially Pure.
Matthew 194 tells us that soonafter that Jesus
said to them again, Let the little children come
to Me for of such is the kingdom. So
When were born, were pure in heart and part of
Gods kingdom. But then
32
The Heart Becomes Polluted.
Unfortunately, we allow sin to en-ter our lives,
polluting our intellect, will, emotions, and
conscience.
Proverbs 209 reads, Who can say, I have made my
heart clean I am pure from my sin? And
33
The Heart Becomes Polluted.
Romans 78-11 read, Sin, taking opportunity by
the commandment, produced in me all manner of
evil desire. For apart from the Law sin was dead.
I was alive once with-out the Law, but when the
com-mandment came, sin revived and I died. And
the commandment that was to bring life, I found
to bring death. For sin, taking occasion by the
commandment, deceived me and by it killed me. So
34
The Heart Must Be Changed.
John 37 has Jesus demanding people to Be born
again. And
Romans 122 has Paul demanding Christians to Be
transformed (Gk. metamorphosis) by the renewing
of their mind (heart). So

36
The Intellect Is Changed By the Testimony of God.
Romans 1017 has Paul saying, Faith comes by
hearing the Word of God. And
37
The Intellect Is Changed By the Testimony of God.
John 2030-31 have John saying, Truly these
signs are written that you may believe Jesus
is the Christ, the Son of God, and that
be-lieving you may have life. So
The intellect thinks, reasons, and understands
the testimony, pro-ducing FAITH !
38
The Will Is Changed By the Motives of God.
Second Corinthians 510-11 reveal Motive 1The
Fear of Judgment Paul wrote that We must all
appear before the judgment seat of Christ. ...
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we
persuade men.
39
The Will Is Changed By the Motives of God.
Romans 24 reveals Motive 2 The Goodness of
God Paul plainly said that The goodness of God
leads to repentance. So
The will longs after God, producing REPENTANCE !
40
The Emotions Are Changed By the Commitment of God.
John 316 states that God so loved the world that
He gave His only be-gotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have
everlasting life.
41
The Emotions Are Changed By the Commitment of God.
Second Corinthians 89 states, You know the grace
of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was
rich, yet for your sakes He became poor that you
through His poverty might be rich. So, based on
the love of God
Our emotions well up within us, producing a
CONFESSION of our commitment to Him!
42
The Conscience Is Changed By Our Submission to
God.
Romans 816 declares that The Spirit Himself
bares witness with our spirit that we are
children of God. And
43
The Conscience Is Changed By Our Submission to
God.
First Peter 321 declares that There is also an
antitype that now saves us, namely baptism (not
the put-ting away of the filth of the flesh, but
the answer of a good consci-ence toward God). So
44
The Conscience Is Changed By Our Submission to
God.
Our conscience, instead of con-demning us, now
pardons us be-cause we have submitted our will to
Gods will by obeying the cul-minating act of
BAPTISM through which we are saved.
45
In Summary...
Whats the heart comprised of? Intellect, will,
emotions, and conscience. Whats the hearts
condition? It begins pure, then becomes polluted,
remaining that way until we decide to change it
to avoid condemnation. And
46
Whats the heart changed by? The intellect is
changed by the testi-mony of God, producing
FAITH. The will is changed by the motives of God,
producing REPENTANCE. The emotions are changed by
the commitment of God, producing a CONFESSION.
And The conscience is changed by our submission
to God in BAPTISM.
