RC Design for Pad Foundation
  • Determine base area of foundation by dividing
    column load by the allowable bearing pressure on
    the soil.
  • Determine overall depth of foundation required by
    punching shear, based on column load only.
  • Select type of foundation simple flat or sloping
    upper surface.
  • Check dimension by computing beam shear stress at
    critical section, on the basis that diagonal
    shear reinforcements should not be provided.
  • Compute bending moment and design the
    reinforcement.
  • Check bond stresses in steel.
