It comprehends historic and archaelogical areas,
like the ruins of Ancient Ostia and the Roman
emperors Claudio and Traianos imperial harbours,
as well as agricultural areas.

There are also the WWF oasis of Fregene and
Maccarese. Here various kinds of fauna and flora
are protected. Infact you can find different
types of birds pheasants, hawks, owls.

is a typical tree of the Mediterranean areas. It
is usually 12/20 metres high with an umbrella
shaped foliage. This tree has been used since
prehistory especially for its edible kernels.

The actual Ostia is also known like Lido di Roma.
It has lots of beaches characterized by sand
dunes, which always change their shape and
position because of wind. They protect the inland
areas from the damaging action of waves and winds.
