  • macrolides - bind 50s ribosome -
    erythromycin - azithromycin (Zithromax)
  • used especially on respiratory infections
  • reaches high levels in tissues - long half-life
  • emerging Zmax resistance

  • quinolones - inhibit DNA synthesis DNA
    gyrase - ciprofloxacin - moxafloxacin
