Introduction
  • People need safe and efficient means of exit in
    an emergency
  • It is important to know the location of at least
    2 exits
  • Potential hazards must be recognized and correct
    responses understood
  • Knowing what to do before an emergency can save
    lives and prevent injury
  • Knowledge of site specific procedures is required

Exit Access
  • Way by which a person reaches the exit
  • Aisles and Corridors
  • All aisles and corridors must be kept clear - a
    minimum of 28 inches width is required
  • Stairwells
  • Stairwells must be kept clear, nothing can be
    stored in a stairwell

Exit Discharge
  • When exiting the building employees should be
    careful not to encounter further hazards
  • Exit discharge areas must be kept clear of snow,
    dirt, and other debris
  • If you notice an exit area not clear contact
    security at x4226

  • It is important that all employees report to the
    assembly area
  • If you do not report, people will enter the
    building to look for you risking their lives
  • Do not go to your car or another building without
    first reporting that you evacuated the building
    safely

  • NYMC employees are not trained or authorized to
    use fire extinguishers
  • Evacuate area and assemble at designated location
