Application and Admission Process

• Admission to the nursing major is highly
  competitive. Application does not assure
  admission.
• Eligibility
• Accepted to SCSU
• Completed application forms and supporting
  documentation
• Completed, or in progress with, all prerequisite
  coursework
• Minimum cumulative and prerequisite GPA of 2.75

Application and Admission Process

• Review of applications is a 3 step process, and
  will begin following the application deadline.
• Qualified applicants who are chosen to progress
  through the admissions process will have
  additional deadlines and requirements throughout
  the admissions process following the deadline.

• Initial Review of Applications

• Based on paperwork submitted by students

Application and Admission Process Step Two

• Entrance Test
• Admissions Committee reviews all paperwork
  (including transcripts, GPA, and references) and
  selects applicants to test
• Testing occurs throughout the process, eligible
  students will be notified.
• HESI Admission Assessment Exam (A2)
• Standardized test with sections in English, Math,
  Science, and Personality/Learning Style
  Inventories
• Study guide book available at bookstore and
  online

• Admissions Interview
• Admissions Committee reviews test results, along
  with transcripts, GPA, and references, and
  selects applicants to interview
• An interview schedule will be made available
  online.
• Admissions Interview
• Two Nursing faculty members
• 15 minutes
• Professional Interview

• Final Admissions Decisions
• Final decisions made mid/late-semester, following
  interviews
• Based on combination of interview results, test
  results, transcripts, GPA, and references
• 40 students admitted each start date, 80 total.
• If admitted, students must meet additional
  requirements
• Completion of prerequisites, CPR certification,
  criminal background check, health screening,
  orientation
