- Students are placed into unpaid or paid lab
internship - 60 hours of additional training before placement
- Summer Internship 25-30 hrs/wk for 8 weeks
- ROP provides Workmans Comp Liability Insurance
- Many interns continue into employment

- Biotech Education National Model since 1994
- Over 5,000 students have been trained in the
SMCOE-ROP Biotechnology courses - Over 750 students have completed industry
laboratory internships. - Formal and informal partnerships with over 25
biotech companies and research institutions
within a 30 min commute - Program is being duplicated at several CC/HS
sites all over the country - Several regional and national awards
- Working on articulation/alignment with local
college programs
