    complete thought. A sentence begins with a
    capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark.
  • There are four kinds of sentences

Declarative
  • A declarative sentence makes a statement and ends
    with a period.
  • Ben is a great singer.
  • Music is enjoyable.

Interrogative
  • An interrogative sentence asks a question and
    ends with a question mark.
  • Isnt Ben a great singer?
  • Who is singing tonight?

Imperative
  • An imperative sentence makes a command or a
    request and ends with a period.
  • Come in, please.
  • Maria, dont be late.

Exclamatory
  • An exclamatory sentence expresses strong feeling
    and ends with an exclamation point.
  • What a great concert that was!
  • These distractions must end!
  • You can make any type of sentence exclamatory by
    punctuating it with an exclamation point to
    express strong feeling.
