Responsibility for Contractor Training
  • Operator has responsibility for ensuring
    contractor employees get site-specific hazard
    awareness training, but operators need not
    actually provide it.
  • One way is to include this MSHA safety
    training requirements as a provision of the
    contract. It may also be prudenttomaintain
    evidence of independent contractors compliance
  • All other training (new miner, refresher, task,
    etc.) is contractors responsibility, but
    operators must ensure compliance.
