  • You have learned that pronouns take the place of
    nouns. The nouns that they replace are called
    antecedents. However, pronouns called indefinite
    pronouns do not have definite antecedents. An
    indefinite pronoun does not refer to a specific
    person, place, or thing.

  • Does anybody need a pencil?

  • Some indefinite pronouns are singular and always
    take a singular verb. Other indefinite pronouns
    are plural and always take a plural verb.
  • Everybody is waiting for the teacher.
  • Many are excited about the lesson.

verb in parentheses that correctly completes each
sentence.
