  • Graduated 35,000 (sum total of all programs)
  • Current Enrollment- As of the fall of 20063645
    students actively enrolled in our programs.
  • Locations- Boston Reed is currently teaching in
    123 cities throughout the State of California,
    Texas, and Louisiana.
  • Faculty- Boston Reed has 933 faculty members
  • Pass rate 83 of students who begin a program
    successfully complete the program.
  • Student Loan Program Annually an estimated 150
    students, who would otherwise not be able to take
    a program, will receive loans from SLM Financial
    Corporation to finance their education.

Boston Reed College
  • Externship Partners- Boston Reed has built
    partnerships with 4935 medical facilities and
    pharmacies so students can complete the
    externship portion of the program.
  • Externship Outcomes- 98 of students complete the
    externship portion of the program successfully.
    Of those completing, 50 received an excellent
    rating and 44 received an outstanding rating.
  • Job Placement While we do not offer a formal job
    placement program, 85 of those graduates self-
    reporting are using the skills they learned in a
    job or another educational setting.

Administrative Medical Assistant
  • Course designed to prepare student to work as an
    administrative assistant in a physicians office
    or clinic.
  • Greet patients, prepare and maintain medical
    records, schedule appointments, medical
    transcription and correspondence, basic insurance
    forms, etc.
  • 16 weeks /96 hours of classroom instruction

Electrocardiography
  • Course designed to prepare student to assist with
    the administration of an electrocardiograph test
  • Learn anatomy and physiology of the
    cardiovascular system, properly place leads of a
    12-lead EKG unit.
  • Course designed for people currently working in a
    medical facility.
  • 8 hours of instruction

Medical Biller
  • Course designed to prepare student to work as an
    medical biller in a medical or billing office.
  • Insurance coding, process Workers Compensation
    claims, personal injury, Medi-cal and Medi-aid
    forms, basic ICD-9 coding and CPT-4 system
    basics.
  • 18 weeks /126 hours of classroom

Externships
  • Externship placement coordinated by Boston Reed
    staff
  • Boston Reed has contracts with outpatient clinics
    and physician offices
  • Hours range from 16-40 hours/week
  • Students placed within 90 days of course
    completion if available 40 hrs/wk, 180 days if
    less than 40 hrs/wk.
  • Not paid during externship

Pre-Requisites
  • Basic English and Math Prescreening
  • 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent not required
    but recommended
  • Competency in or completion of basic computer
    operations
  • Prior to externship, proof of completion of CPR
  • for the Healthcare Provider, proof of a current
    physical examination, including TB (tuberculosis)
    screening
  • Submit resume

No State Exams for Clinical Medical Assistant
  • For Clinical Medical Assisting, there is no
    registration or examination required in
    California, optional California Medical Assisting
    Association-a professional organization
    association is available, but not required in
    order to work in California.

Before Registering
  • ENGLISH LANGUAGE MATH SCREENING ASSESSMENT
  • In order to succeed in the course you must have a
    basic mastery of the English language as well as
    knowledge of basic mathematical calculations.

Online Access
  • Access to the Internet, an email account and
    access to a printer are required.
  • Required weekly handouts for the course are
    available online and must be printed out and
    brought to each class session. Print out the
    first weeks materials prior to the first class
    session.

After Completing the Course Before Externship
  • Prior to externship, proof of completion of CPR
  • for the healthcare provider
  • Proof of a current physical examination
  • Proof of computer literacy
  • TB test (tuberculosis screening)
  • Submit resume
