Title: Philippians

1
One day were all going to die, and God is going
to judge us (our) good and bad deeds.
If the bad outweighs the bad, you go to hell.
If the good outweighs the bad, you go to heaven.

DISCUSSION GUIDE
1. What is the situation Paul continues to
address in Gal. 217-18?   That Peter or any
Christian should not try to live under the Law
but under grace. Salvation by faith in Christ
saves man from the burden of the Law.
5
DISCUSSION GUIDE (cont.)
2. How could the doctrine of grace lead to a
license to sin?   Some people may think that
because they have forgiveness of sin, then they
can sin at will. Paul speaks against this
concept.
6
DISCUSSION GUIDE (cont.)
3. How do people try to mix Law and grace?   They
continue to be legalistic even though they have
experienced the grace of God in their own lives.
They judge other people legalistically.
7
DISCUSSION GUIDE (cont.)
4. What did Paul mean in (v.19) when he said,
For through the Law I died to the Law . . .?
That the Laws demand of death was satisfied
in the death of Christ.
8
DISCUSSION GUIDE (cont.)
5. Why is a Christian not free to sin even though
he/she is not under the Law?   Because a
Christian should be dead to his old way of life.
Sinful desires should be replaced with the motive
to live for God.
9
DISCUSSION GUIDE (cont.)
6. What does it mean to you to be crucified with
Christ? (v. 20)
10
DISCUSSION GUIDE (cont.)
7. What areas of your life need to be cleansed so
that Christ can have full control?
11
DISCUSSION GUIDE (cont.)
8. How does the fact that Christ delivered
Himself up for you impact your daily life?
12
DISCUSSION GUIDE (cont.)
9. How does Paul close his argument on the Law
and grace in (v. 21)?   He states that if the Law
saves then Christ died in vain.
13
CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST
1. Because a Christian should be dead to his
old way of life. Sinful desires should be
replaced with the motive to live for God.
2. How am I different?
3. In which areas of my life do I need to die to
self?
4. What is one action step I can take
immediately to die to self in the above
categories?
14
CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST   As I look back on what I
thought was living
I'm amazed at the
price I choose to pay
And to think I ignored what really mattered
Cause I thought the sacrifice would
be too great

But when I finally reached the point of giving in
I found the cross was
calling even then
And even though it took
dying to survive
I've never felt so much
alive.
15
For I am crucified with Christ
and yet I live
Not I but Christ that lives within
me
His Cross will never ask
for more than I can give For
its not my strength but His There's no greater
sacrifice
For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live
16
As I hear the Savior call for daily dying
I will bow beneath the weight of
Calvary Let my hands surrender to His
piercing purpose
That
holds on to the cross but sets me free I
will glory in the power of the cross
The things I thought were gain
I count as loss

And with His suffering I identify
And by His resurrection power I am
alive
17
And I will offer all I have
So that His
cross is not in vain
For I found to live is Christ

And to die is truly gain
