Thermodynamic measurements of Al-Ni-X systems

Introduction

• ß NiAl (B2 phase) has attracted a lot of
  attention in recent years as a potential high
  temperature structural material. To improve its
  room temperature ductility and creep resistance,
  alloy development is necessary which requires
  phase diagrams. Using Thermo-Calc software
  provides an economic and fast way to obtain the
  phase equilibria and phase diagrams for these
  systems.
• High temperature reaction calorimeter and
  commercial Setaram MHTC 96 are being used to
  measure the enthalpies of formation and heat
  capacities of the compounds from Al-Ni-X (X TEM)
  systems, which will provide the database used for
  the phase diagram calculation
