TESTIS

• Paired organs in scrotum
• oval shape, 12-14 cm long, 8 cm in diameter
• Covered by tunica albuginea

• Function
• Spermatogenesis (in seminiferous tubules under
  control of FSH,LH)
• Produce testostrone (in Leydig cells under
  influence oh LH)

• FUNCTION
• Support testis
• Protect testis
• Regulate temperature
• - sweat
• - muscle contraction
• - blood supply

• 2 lobed sac divided by vertical septum
• skin is hairless
• Tunica Dartos muscle,adhere to skin
• Tunica Vaginalis, white fibrous sheath
• dorsal attached to to cresmaster muscle

• FUNCTION
• Sperm are concentrated stored
• Nutrients for sperm
• Sperms undergo maturation

• Divided into 3 parts

  attached

VAS DEFERENS

• Thin tube 32 - 46 diameter, posterior aspect of
  testis
• forming part of spermatic chord,enters body
  through inguinal ring terminate in
• ampulla

• FUNCTION
• Connects epididyrmis to ampulla
• Contracts during ejucalation

AMPULLA

• Thickened glandular extension of vas deferens
• 10 cm long ½ cm wide
• Joins urethra at level of seminal vesicle

• Function
• Valve to prevent urination while sexually excited
• Stops urine entering vas deferens

URETHRA

• FUNCTION
• Duct for urine
• Passageway for products of testis accessories
  glands

• Common duct for urine and sperm
• Extends from neck of bladder to urethral opening
  in the end of glands penis

• Function
• Produce viscid , mucus like lubricating substance

• Posterior to prostrate
• 19 - 20 cm long
• both side of pelvic urethra

• Produce seminal plasma (60-90 volume of an
  ejaculate)
• Seminal plasma function
• ? Cleans urethra of urine, bacteria etc

• ? Adds volume to ejaculate
• ? Aids sperm survive in vagina
