Plains Region
  • The Plains Region has tall, rocky mountains, dry,
    brown forest, and long, flimsy grasses.

  • The Plains have a lot of animals.
  • They have big, tall cattle, tall, brown antelopes
    and white, fluffy sheep.

  • The Plains do not have a lot of plants.
  • There are tall, green elm, round, tan oak, small,
    round oranges, and green, spicky Yucca cactus.

  • Here are even more animals cute, white rabbits,
    long, green alligators, huge, brown bison, and
    big, mean mountain lions.

Climate
  • In winter, Comanche Indians got many feet of
    snow.
  • It covers the Plains during winter storms.

  • The Plains hunt deer, fox, buffalo, and small
    animals.
  • Some animal they ate raw and roasted or boiled.
  • The Comanches cut the rest into thin strips and
    dried them in the sun.

  • They made a tipi out of twelve to fourteen
    buffalo hides.
  • The women sewed the hides and stretched them
    over long straight poles made from pine or cedar
    trees.

  • Men and older boys wore breechcloth which was a
    piece of soft buckskin that went between the legs
    and was held with a belt at the waist.
  • Women and girls wore buckskin dresses with beads
    and other decorations too.

  • Comanches fought back, and many of the Texas
    Rangers died.

  • Today there are about 10,000 Comanche people
    most live in Oklahoma.

  • The Comanches loved contests, races, kick ball,
    arrow-shooting, wrestling matches, and guessing
    games.
