the Dark Ages
  • Many students are served well by learning
    practical and vocational skills.

They need to develop skills for their lives and
employment in a future of advancing technology.

Learning that responds to Employer Student needs
  • Keep the curriculum in constant evolution as is
    the way of our world today.

What We Have Now - A Good Base to Build on
  • Adequate Wood Shop, run-down Metals Shop
  • Downsize and combine the two labs into one.
  • Use remaining space for High-Tech, High-Touch and
    support computer lab.
  • Adequate Manual Drafting Lab
  • Upgrade to CAD in existing space.

How do we get there from here?
  • CAD lab budgeted by school board for winter 2001.
  • Renovation of current metal wood labs budgeted
    by bond issue for summer 2001.
  • 10 Station computer lab in metals / woods area
    budgeted by bond issue for summer 2001.
  • Additional funding required to refurbish existing
    wood metal equipment, and to acquire high-tech,
    high-touch machinery for summer 2001.

Why must these programs be upgraded?
  • Problem solving and project based learning
    teaches skills not developed in other programs.
  • Gives students marketable skills which can earn
    them a decent wage right away.
  • Sets Fenton Schools apart from the competition
    being offered from charter schools.
  • Gets local industry interested and involved.
